Cruise Classifieds: The Honest Version

People search for cruise classifieds for three reasons: they have a cruise they cannot take and want to sell it, they hope to buy someone else’s cabin cheaply, or they are looking for work at sea. The first two run into the same fact — a cruise booking is not a ticket you can hand over. It is a reservation for named guests, checked against their passports at the pier.

That is why there is no open cruise resale market like the ones for concert seats. What does exist is narrower: line-controlled name changes, official resale lists on some charter and music cruises, legitimate cruise resellers (travel agencies), and the cruise lines’ own late inventory. This site explains each, plainly, and shows where the scams hide. We do not run a marketplace, and we never will ask you to pay a stranger.

If You Cannot Take Your Cruise

  • Read your booking’s cancellation schedule; penalties typically grow as sailing approaches.
  • Ask the line, or the agency that booked it, whether a name change is allowed on your fare.
  • Check your travel insurance — Cruise & Travel Insurance explains what cancellation cover usually requires.
  • Ask about moving to a later date before cancelling outright.
  • Never take money from a buyer before the line has confirmed the change.

If You Want a Bargain Cabin

The real bargains come from the cruise lines, not from strangers. Lines re-price unsold and cancelled cabins as sailing approaches, and an agency can book them in your name the proper way. Last Minute Cruising explains how short-notice cruising works, and Wave Season and Cruising for Less track the current sales. Cruise Classifieds: Quick Answers

Is Cruise Classifieds a cruise resale site?

No. We do not list, buy or sell anyone’s cruise booking, and we never take payment between private parties. This site explains how cruise resale and transfers really work so you can avoid losing money.

Can I buy someone else’s cruise cabin?

Only through the cruise line or the charter organizer, and only when their rules allow a guest substitution. A private payment to a stranger does not put your name on the ship’s manifest.

I am looking for cruise ship jobs, not cabins.

Our sister site Cruise Industry Jobs explains how hiring at sea and in the cruise industry works.

Where do genuinely cheap late cabins come from?

From the cruise lines themselves, as they re-sell cancelled and unsold cabins close to sailing. Any line-approved agency can book them for you.
